Simone Biles Dog Breed, Names, How They Help Her Cope With Pressure

Simone Biles is a dog person. The decorated gymnast has 3 surviving German Shepherds (previously 4), and 2 French Bulldogs, though her Instagram profile says she has three, the third one has not made much appearances. Simone Biles’ German Shepherds are named Atlas, Bella, and Lily while the French Bulldogs are named Lilo and Rambo respectively. The dog mom (full name Simone Arianne Biles, born March 14, 1997) is an American artistic gymnast and a highly decorated one at that.

She has 7 Olympic medals and is regarded by many as the greatest female gymnast of all time. Simone once spoke of the pressures that sometimes come with performing at the highest level of her sport, all while describing how her canine family members help her cope with those aforementioned pressures. This article focuses on Simone Biles’ dogs and the role they play in helping her settle down.

What breeds are Simone Biles’ dogs and what are their names?

Simone Biles has two different breeds of dogs. She owns the German Shepherd breed and the French Bulldog breed. The German Shepherds are her family’s legacy. She had four of them namely, Maggie, Atlas, Bella, and Lily. Records show, however, that only three of her German shepherds are alive. To state plainly, Simone grew up with the aforementioned German Shepherds and knows all about them.

Her very first dog, Maggie was a German Shepherd, she had received it as a don’t from a family member who was aware of Simone’s fascination with pets of the canine family. Simone experienced some of her major milestones with Maggie until he had to be put it down for yet unknown reasons. During an interview, Simone spoke of how much she missed Maggie.

We are not sure when her family got the other three German Shepherds but as of 2020, Simone was the custodian of Atlas, Bella, and Lily. We don’t see much of them these days but there are reports that they currently live on a farm with her parents. The truth of that statement will be confirmed in a later paragraph.

She has two French Bulldogs

At the moment, the 7-time Olympic medalist is a dog mom of two French Bulldogs named Lilo and Rambo. Lilo is a female French bulldog who was reportedly born on November 28, 2017. Sources say she was 3-months old when Simone and her boyfriend Stacey Ervin Jr. took ownership of the dog. Rambo, on the other hand, was reportedly born on January 8, 2020, even though we are currently unaware of how he came into the gymnast’s care.

Before Rambo joined the family, Lilo made her debut on Instagram on a page created by her mom called Lilo the Frenchie. The records show that the page acquired over 20k followers within the first 24 hours of Biles making the page’s first post. Simone had a swell time with Lilo before she felt it was time for the dog to have another companion who wasn’t human.

In stepped Rambo, another French Bulldog but also male instead of female. Rambo’s arrival meant that he also soon started appearing on the Instagram page which was initially set up for Lilo. He was introduced to the Gram family on May 17, 2020. It became obvious to everyone, including Simone that in order to accommodate Rambo on the page, the name of the page would have to be changed.

And so it was! These days, the Instagram page exists under the handle @thebilesfrenchies. The page has more than 80k followers and over 152 posts as of the time of writing. As expected, the content on this page primarily features snapshots of Lilo and her baby brother, Rambo. Simone, who obviously oversees the account, joins them on occasion, and the cute pictures she posts regularly draw favorable comments.

How Simone Biles’ dogs help her cope with pressure

Simone utilizes even the slightest opportunity to extol the qualities and value her dogs add to her life. Aside from being cute and loving, the American gymnast has spoken about how they help her cope with pressure. Whether it is with the anxiety she had to deal with during the era of social distancing or the pressure that comes with being the best in her career, Lilo and to some extent, Rambo has always come to the fore for Simone.

Simone recounted the experience she had with walking Lilo during the pandemic year which included the fact that just walking with the dog left her feeling very peaceful and relaxed. Simone is the most decorated gymnast in US history with 7 Olympic medals and multiple world championship wins; and while her skills, coupled with the grace and determination with which she carries on her responsibilities, the star athlete has recounted the role her dogs have played in her success.

Simone said she is always excited to go home because even in the most difficult times, the joy and excitement on the faces of Lilo and Rambo are always enough to cheer her up. It could be because she feeds them like royal dogs, but whatever the case, it is clear that Simone and her dogs are happiest in each other’s company. They can always look forward to lots of treats and belly rubs whenever she returns from a prolonged trip.

Was Simone Biles bitten by a dog?

The answer to that question is an unflinching yes. Just one week after her return from the Tokyo Olympics where she had won bronze in the balance beam final, and silver in the team all-around final, Simone made an Instagram post that revealed a gash on her right forefinger. The post essentially revealed that the gash had been left there by a bite from one of her family’s German Shepherds at the farm.

The gymnast didn’t seem too ruffled by the incident which was probably because she had just been to the doctor’s office for her tetanus shots. She also recounted how she had grown up with the dog that bit her and how GSDs don’t play around. We, and probably Simone as well, can only wonder if the German shepherds are irritated with her for transferring her affections to her French Bulldogs.

Does Simone Biles have a pet goat?

Not in the literal sense of the word. It might still happen but at the moment, Simone only has pet dogs. She, however, added a bedazzled goat to her leotard at the Tokyo Olympics because she realized it would make her haters even madder.

The move to add the bedazzled goat was in response to her haters’ antics and also a reference to the G.O.A.T. (Greatest Of All Time) title which her fans have taken to calling her. Simone’s defiance came after repeated criticism from her detractors, who despite her impressive achievements have insisted on deriding those achievements.
